The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is relaxing its temporary requirements on local water suppliers to reduce water use in their communities. That means Woodbury’s temporary elevated lawn-watering restrictions are no longer in place, effective immediately. The city’s regular odd/even and time-of-day (prohibited noon to 5 p.m. every day) lawn-watering restrictions remain in place.
The city temporarily changed its lawn-watering restrictions from an odd/even watering schedule to trash pickup day and one weekend day per week on July 27.
Woodbury is lifting the restrictions after the DNR downgraded Woodbury’s area to a drought watch phase.
The city encourages its water users to continue to use water efficiently.
Learn some smart watering tips
Discounted Smart Irrigation Controllers available
The city offers substantially discounted Rachio smart irrigation controllers for Woodbury residents. These controllers, certified by the Environmental Protection Agency to save at least 20% of your outdoor water use, work by connecting to your home Wi-Fi and are controlled by your smartphone. Typically retailing for $230, the city’s program allows you to purchase a Rachio Smart Irrigation Controller for only $35 and have it shipped directly to your home.
Unlike some other smart controllers, Rachio controllers can be easily reprogrammed to custom schedules rather than every other day. This feature will be useful should further watering restrictions be necessary.
